Perfusion defects on dual-energy CTA in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism correlate with right heart strain and lower survival

Rocio Perez-Johnston et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of perfusion defects on dual-energy CT angiograms in assessing the clinical severity of pulmonary embolism, finding significant correlations between the presence of perfusion defects and parameters evaluating PE severity. Presence of a perfusion defect and higher perfusion defect score were associated with lower survival rates.
