Hydroxytyrosol improves mitochondrial energetics of a cellular model of Alzheimer's disease

Francesco Visioli et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of hydroxytyrosol (HT) on mitochondrial energetic dysfunction in an AD cellular model were assessed. The results showed an increase in the number of new mitochondria after 8 hours of HT treatment, as well as a significant increase in ATP concentrations after 24 hours. These findings suggest that HT may reverse the energetic deficit in the cellular model of AD by enhancing mitochondrial activity.

Apple polyphenol extract alleviates lipid accumulation in free-fatty-acid-exposedHepG2cells via activating autophagy mediated bySIRT1/AMPKsignaling

Deming Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that apple polyphenol extract (APE) can alleviate fatty acid-induced lipid accumulation in cells by restoring autophagy, inhibiting lipid synthesis, and promoting fatty acid oxidation. This indicates that APE has potential preventive effects on clinical hepatosteatosis by inducing autophagy.

Neuroprotective Effects of Coffee Bioactive Compounds: A Review

Katarzyna Socala et al.

Summary: Coffee contains various bioactive components that are beneficial for human health, such as caffeine, polyphenols, and alkaloids. Research suggests that regular coffee consumption can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and certain types of cancer, while also potentially lowering the risk of neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Further studies are needed to fully understand the mechanisms behind these effects and the therapeutic applications of coffee bioactive components.

Grape polyphenols supplementation for exercise-induced oxidative stress

Edurne Elejalde et al.

Summary: Exercise increases the production of free radicals, leading to elevated oxidative stress, which can have detrimental effects at high concentrations. Supplementing with antioxidants can help maintain optimal antioxidant status, and grapes are a natural source of antioxidants that can potentially reduce exercise-induced oxidative stress in athletes.
