Alkaloids and sesquiterpenes from roots and leaves of Lycium europaeum L. (Solanaceae) with antioxidant and anti-acetylcholinesterase activities

Houaria Bendjedou et al.

Summary: The phytochemical investigation of Lycium europaeum L. revealed the presence of alkaloids and sesquiterpenes with antioxidant and AChE inhibitory activities. The ethanolic and alkaloid extracts from roots and leaves showed promising results in bioautography assays, particularly the alkaloid extracts demonstrated the strongest activity against oxidation and AChE.

In vitro neuroprotective effects of farnesene sesquiterpene on alzheimer's disease model of differentiated neuroblastoma cell line

Mehmet Enes Arslan et al.

Summary: The study investigated the neuroprotective properties of the farnesene sesquiterpene on an experimental Alzheimer's disease model in vitro. Results showed significant neuroprotection against beta-amyloid toxicity and decreased necrotic cell death after farnesene application. The findings suggest that farnesene could potentially be a safe, anti-necrotic, and neuroprotective agent against Alzheimer's disease.
