The Role of Cellular Prion Protein in Promoting Stemness and Differentiation in Cancer

Larisa Ryskalin et al.

Summary: The expression of PrP(C) in human cancers has gained significant attention for its potential role in promoting tumor growth, differentiation, and resistance to therapy, particularly in relation to cancer stem cells. Strategies targeting PrP(C) or PrP(C)-organized complexes may hold promise for anti-cancer therapy. The multifaceted role of PrP in cancer progression and its potential as a biomarker for postoperative patient follow-up are areas of ongoing research.
