Synthesis and characterization of neem (Azadirachta indica) seed oil-based alkyd resins for efficient anticorrosive coating application

Summary: Neem seed oil was extracted using petroleum ether and used to synthesize alkyd resins, with the addition of maleic anhydride improving their performance in various surface coating applications. The resins showed excellent corrosion protection on mild steel plates and higher maleic anhydride content resulted in superior properties. The synthesized resins have great potential for marine vessel finishes to resist salt corrosion.
