Multiply spliced HIV RNA is a predictive measure of virus production ex vivo and in vivo following reversal of HIV latency

Jennifer M. Zerbato et al.

Summary: The study found that detection of unspliced (US) HIV RNA was common in CD4+ T cells from PLWH on ART, while detection of multiply spliced (MS) RNA was infrequent. Following stimulation with LRAs, a strong correlation was identified between the increase in supernatant (SN) and MS RNA, but not between SN and US RNA. Additionally, MS RNA levels were significantly higher in PLWH on ART with detectable plasma HIV RNA after receiving panobinostat.
