PerficientCloudSim: a tool to simulate large-scale computation in heterogeneous clouds

Summary: The major reason for using a simulator is to enable repeatable evaluation of large-scale cloud systems. While CloudSim is widely used for this purpose, it lacks support for interactive online services, platform heterogeneities, virtual machine migration modeling, and other essential models. This paper describes modifications to CloudSim to support realistic experimentations that closely match experimental outcomes in a real system, and introduces PerficientCloudSim for large-scale computation over heterogeneous resources. Through empirical evaluation using real workload traces, it is demonstrated that PerficientCloudSim can reasonably simulate large-scale heterogeneous datacenters.
