Investigation of factors affecting phytoremediation of multi-elements polluted calcareous soil using Taguchi optimization

B. Razmi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different biological and chemical factors on the phytoremediation of zinc, lead, cadmium, and nickel in contaminated soils using the Taguchi optimization method. The results showed that plant type was the most influential factor on the remediation effectiveness.

Application of MRSN ratio and Taguchi parametric design in optimization of parameters of DI CI engine fuelled with diesel-biodiesel-higher alcohol blends

Saravanan Subramani et al.

Summary: This study aimed to optimize the design and fuel factors of a direct injection compression ignition engine in order to reduce NOx and smoke emissions while improving performance. The analysis revealed that the percentage of biodiesel in the blend and EGR had a smaller contribution compared to other factors, and propanol had the least impact on NOx, smoke, and BTE among the higher alcohols tested.

Evaluation of the sparse reconstruction and the delay-and-sum damage imaging methods for structural health monitoring under different environmental and operational conditions

A. Nokhbatolfoghahai et al.

Summary: In this paper, the performance of sparse reconstruction and delay-and-sum methods for damage localization was evaluated under various conditions using numerical and experimental methods. The study employed the Taguchi method for experimental design and defined a modified performance index to represent image quality. Results showed that the delay-and-sum method exhibited better robustness under uncontrolled factors, while sparse reconstruction was more reliable for poor baseline subtraction. These findings offer valuable insights for designing reliable structural health monitoring systems.

Optimizing turning parameters in the machining of AM alloy using Taguchi methodology

Sunil Dutta et al.

Summary: Magnesium alloys are widely used in engineering sectors for their lightweight, stiffness, and damping properties. However, machining these alloys poses challenges due to their mechanical properties and inflammability. In this study, a newly developed Aluminum-Manganese (AM) series Mg alloy was subjected to turning operation, with control factors including feed, speed, and depth of cut. Statistical analysis revealed that depth of cut has the greatest impact on cutting force, while feed has the greatest influence on surface roughness.
