Assessment of high-solid mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic digestion of mechanically-separated municipal solid waste

Panagiotis Basinas et al.

Summary: The research found that the mechanically-sorted organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) has low biogas and biomethane generation capacity due to the presence of non-biodegradable components and low protein and starch proportions. Reducing particle size can increase the utilization of digestible organic substances and promote the rate of biogas and biomethane generation.
