The Use of Fluorescence Spectra for the Detection of Scab and Rot in Fruit and Vegetable Crops

Summary: By using the fluorescence spectrometer Lumina, differences in fluorescence spectra between healthy and infected samples of apples and potatoes were found in specific wavelength regions, which can be used for the detection and separation of diseased and healthy fruits and vegetables. The study also showed that the correlation coefficients between the spectra and principal component analysis (PCA) can effectively distinguish healthy and diseased samples.
