Chemo-profiling of some Turkish Galanthus L. (Amaryllidaceae) species and their anticholinesterase activity

Buket Bozkurt et al.

Summary: The Amaryllidaceae family, known for its economically important and ornamental plants, contains isoquinoline alkaloids, among which galanthamine is widely used in treating Alzheimer's disease. Chemical composition of three Galanthus species was analyzed, revealing promising acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activities in the extracts of Galanthus krasnovii bulbs.
