Impact of oil palm expansion on the provision of private and community goods in rural Indonesia

Vijesh V. Krishna et al.

Summary: Research in rural Indonesia shows that oil palm expansion has a positive impact on the provision of private goods but not on community goods, possibly due to differences in government spending. Policies regulating oil palm expansion should consider its positive effects on rural livelihoods while avoiding overreliance on the expanding plantation sector for rural infrastructure development.
