Summary: Chronic kidney disease affects more than 10% of the world population, leading to changes in serum ion concentrations that increase the risk for ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death in ESRD patients. T wave descriptors, particularly those quantifying morphological variability, are strongly influenced by variations in serum potassium and calcium levels and heart rate, with potential for monitoring ion concentrations in ESRD patients using ECG markers.
