A new species, Mitreola bullata sp. nov. (Loganiaceae), was discovered in southeastern Yunnan, China, and is described and illustrated in this study. This species shows similarities to M. yangchunensis but can be differentiated by its characteristics such as low height, bullate leaf blades with dense pilosity, longer purple or green petioles, purple veins on the abaxial surface, and glabrous purplish red calyces. Additionally, a key to all Mitreola species in China is provided for classification purposes.

A key to all the species of Mitreola in China is provided.
