Direct Evaluation of Mixed Mode I plus II Cohesive Laws of Wood by Coupling MMB Test with DIC

Jorge Oliveira et al.

Summary: In this study, cohesive laws in mixed mode loading of Pinus pinaster Ait. were evaluated using a combination of mixed mode bending test and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) to measure crack tip displacements. A data reduction method was proposed, which relied on compliance-based beam method, local displacement measurements, and uncoupled approach for reconstruction of cohesive laws and its mode I and mode II components. Results showed that the proposed methodology was appropriate for evaluating cohesive law under mixed mode loading.
