Hollow fiber membranes with hierarchical spherulite surface structure developed by thermally induced phase separation using triple-orifice spinneret for membrane distillation

Chuanjie Fang et al.

Summary: PVDF hollow fiber membranes were developed for membrane distillation (MD) using the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) process with solvent co-extrusion. The membranes exhibited high water vapor permeability and excellent wetting resistance due to the unique surface structures achieved through solvent co-extrusion. This one-step fabrication process allowed for the creation of various surface morphologies and provided a new, simple, and effective alternative for high-performance MD desalination membranes.
