Summary: Land surface temperature (LST) is essential for monitoring energy budgets and water cycles. UAV-based thermal sensors are increasingly used to capture high-resolution LST due to their flexibility in capturing various scales. This study focuses on the directional anisotropy (DA) of fine-scale emissions, highlighting the need for angular normalization of brightness temperatures (BTs) prior to analysis. The modified kernel-driven model shows promising results in simulating the DAs of thermal emissions over different surfaces.
