N,N-Diacylaminals as Emerging Tools in Synthesis: From Peptidomimetics to Asymmetric Catalysis

Rosa Lopez et al.

Summary: N,N-Diacylaminals are flexible molecular scaffolds commonly used as amide surrogates in peptidomimetics. Recently, their singularity as an N-acyl imine equivalent and hydrogen-bond donor has led to new synthetic opportunities, particularly in the field of asymmetric catalysis. This concept article highlights the diverse synthetic potential of N,N-Diacylaminals and provides the necessary elements for further developments.

Mechanism of Phosphorus-Carbon Bond Formation in the Amidoalkylation of Phosphonous Carboxylic Acids

Maxim E. Dmitriev et al.

Summary: Phosphonous propionic acids exhibit higher reactivity compared to phosphonous propionic esters in the carbamate version of the Kabachnik-Fields reaction. The generation of tricoordinated phosphorus compounds during the amidoalkylation process was confirmed by P-31 NMR analysis. A hypothesis was proposed to explain the generation of spirophosphoranes in situ, clarifying the mechanism for the formation of the phosphorus-carbon bond in the reaction under study.
