The optimized nanomaterial showed acceptable binding ability with DNA and considerable transfection efficiency, making it a promising gold-standard for pCRISPR delivery.

Photoluminescent carbon quantum dot/poly-L-Lysine core-shell nanoparticles: A novel candidate for gene delivery

Summary: This study developed a novel gene delivery vehicle by combining carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with poly-L-lysine (PLL) to form core-shell nanoparticles with a hybrid nanostructure. These nanoparticles exhibited narrow size distribution, average diameter under 10 nm, non-toxicity to human cells, and promising optical properties. These CQD/PLL core-shell nanoparticles have great potential as a non-toxic and efficient gene delivery vector.
