Insulin receptor substrate in brain-enriched exosomes in subjects with major depression: on the path of creation of biosignatures of central insulin resistance

Carla Nasca et al.

Summary: Insulin signaling is crucial for neuroplasticity, cerebral metabolism, and energy metabolism. Recent study identified increased exosomes enriched for L1CAM and higher levels of IRS-1 in these exosomes in individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) compared to healthy controls. These findings may contribute to the development of personalized medicine for treating MDD.
