Ultrasonic surface rolling (USR) can significantly induce plastic deformation in the material surface layer, resulting in lower coefficient of friction and wear volume. The untreated sample exhibited adhesive wear, while the USR treated samples showed abrasive wear.
In this work, the ultrasonic surface rolling (USR) with different rolling loads were introduced to 25CrNi2MoV steel. And the microstructure and fretting wear behaviors were evaluated. Results showed that USR treatment can significantly generate plastic deformation in material surface layer. The sample treated by 1000 N showed the lowest coefficient of friction and wear volume in the USR treated samples. The wear mechanism of untreated sample was adhesive wear, and the USR treated samples were abrasive wear. (c) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
