CeO2 nanoparticles annealed in different oxygen concentration atmospheres showed enhanced CO gas sensing performance, attributed to the exposed low index crystal planes and abundant oxygen vacancies.
CeO2 nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs) were synthesized by hydrothermal method and subsequently annealed in different oxygen concentration atmosphere (N-2, air and O-2), which made various crystal planes exposed and induced oxygen vacancies. CO gas sensing tests showed that CeO2 annealed under O-2 exhibited the highest response and fast response/recovery time, which may be contributed to the exposed low index crystal planes and abundant oxygen vacancies.
