Covid-19 and the cardiovascular system: a comprehensive review

Summary: In patients infected with COVID-19, cardiac injury is associated with higher morbimortality, and is characterized by inflammation response and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome caused by the virus. Hypertension and diabetes are common comorbidities, while cardiac injury is significantly related to inflammation biomarkers, hyperferritinemia, and leukocytosis.
