Comparison of pharmacokinetics of omega-3 fatty acid supplements in monoacylglycerol or ethyl ester in humans: a randomized controlled trial

Laurie Chevalier et al.

Summary: The study found that omega-3 fatty acids esterified in monoacylglycerides (MAG) significantly increased plasma concentration of DHA and EPA, with higher concentrations during the absorption phase. When provided in MAG form, there was less difference in plasma concentration of n-3 FAs between males and females compared to ethyl ester (EE) form.
