Update on Cerebellar Ataxia with Neuropathy and Bilateral Vestibular Areflexia Syndrome (CANVAS)

Mathieu Dupre et al.

Summary: CANVAS is a rare neurological syndrome characterized by late-onset cerebellar ataxia and bilateral vestibular dysfunction first described by the neurootology/neurophysiology community. The syndrome involves deficits in the visuo-vestibulo-ocular reflex and peripheral sensory axonal neuropathy. Its genetic etiology was discovered in 2019 as abnormal biallelic expansion in the RFC1 gene.

TDP-43 proteinopathies: a new wave of neurodegenerative diseases

Eva Maria Johanna de Boer et al.

Summary: TDP-43 is a crucial protein involved in the pathogenesis of various neurodegenerative diseases, including ALS and FTLD. Understanding the molecular pathways through which TDP-43 mediates neurodegeneration is essential for the development of effective therapies.
