Forming luminescent oligomer nanoparticles via condensation polymerization: A strategy for real-time visualized detection of hydrazine in solution and gas phase

Summary: A new strategy for real-time visualized detection of hydrazine was demonstrated using luminescent oligomer nanoparticles formed via condensation polymerization, with an aldehyde-containing molecule as the probe. The probe showed highly selective detection ability for hydrazine with a low detection limit, and analysis indicated the formation of luminescent oligomer nanoparticles with average sizes above 500 nm. Portable test papers based on this probe were successfully applied to detect hydrazine solution and vapor.
