Does Temperature Contribute to Environment Degradation? Pakistani Experience Based on Nonlinear Bounds Testing Approach

Muhammad Saeed Meo et al.

Summary: Many developing countries, including Pakistan, are vulnerable to global climate changes. This study examines the asymmetric impact of temperature, energy use, economic growth, and water scarcity on CO2 emissions in Pakistan. The findings suggest that temperature has an asymmetric relationship with CO2 emissions, while energy use, population growth, and economic growth have a positive effect in the short run. In the long run, energy consumption and economic growth increase emissions, while a 1% decrease in temperature leads to a 5% decrease in carbon emissions. The study also supports the policy of increasing renewable energy consumption.

Tourism development, natural resource abundance, and environmental sustainability: Another look at the ten most visited destinations

Solomon Prince Nathaniel et al.

Summary: Tourism, while contributing significantly to global employment, can also have negative impacts on the environment such as an increase in ecological footprint and exploitation of natural resources. The study found that tourism receipts contribute to an increase in ecological footprint, while tourism arrivals have the opposite effect.

Assessing the potency of environmental regulation in maintaining environmental sustainability inMENAcountries: An advanced panel data estimation

Joseph A. Omojolaibi et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of environmental regulations, trade, economic growth, and energy consumption on the ecological footprint in the Middle East and North Africa countries. The empirical results show that environmental regulations have limited influence on environmental sustainability in these countries. Meanwhile, trade, economic growth, and energy consumption all contribute to an increase in ecological footprint.

Linking economic globalization, economic growth, financial development, and ecological footprint: Evidence from symmetric and asymmetric ARDL

Zahoor Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between ecological footprint, economic globalization, economic growth, and financial development in Japan using symmetric and asymmetric methods. The findings suggest that economic globalization and financial development increase the ecological footprint in Japan, while energy consumption deteriorates the environment. Higher population density decreases the footprint, and there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between income and footprint.

Accounting asymmetries in the long-run nexus between globalization and environmental sustainability in the United States: An aggregated and disaggregated investigation

Zahoor Ahmed et al.

Summary: The study highlights the positive and negative effects of globalization on the environment, utilizing non-linear methods to investigate the relationship and finding non-linear cointegration among variables. The research also reveals that negative changes in total and economic globalization have more dominant effects on ecological footprint, while positive changes in social globalization contribute to improving the environment.
