Effect of willow cultivar and plant age on the melezitose content of giant willow aphid (Tuberolachnus salignus) honeydew

Summary: This study investigated the impact of willow cultivar and plant age on the melezitose content (and that of other sugars) of the giant willow aphid Tuberolachnus salignus honeydew. The results showed that while sucrose content was significantly affected by both cultivar and plant age, fructose and glucose content were influenced by willow plant age and cultivar, respectively. Melezitose was found to be the most abundant sugar in most samples, with no significant variation in content based on willow cultivar or plant age.
