Anisotropic plasticity model forms for extruded Al 7079: Part II, validation

E. M. C. Jones et al.

Summary: This study discusses modeling the anisotropic elastic-plastic response of aluminum 7079, calibrating yield and hardening functions from tension test data, designing validation specimens to evaluate the calibrations. Experimental and simulation results show that the Yld2004-18p model can better describe surface strain fields than the von Mises model when capturing accurate strain field evolution is important.
