Exploratory studies with NX-13: oral toxicity and pharmacokinetics in rodents of an orally active, gut-restricted first-in-class therapeutic for IBD that targets NLRX1

Andrew Leber et al.

Summary: The study found that NX-13 is safe and well-tolerated in rats at oral doses as high as 1000 mg/kg. No significant changes were observed in weight, clinical signs, blood parameters, or tissue pathology between treated and control rats. Pharmacokinetic analysis showed that NX-13 has a favorable gastrointestinal localized profile.

Macrophages and the maintenance of homeostasis

David M. Mosser et al.

Summary: Macrophages should not only be considered immune cells, but more broadly as cellular transducers that interpret microenvironmental changes and actuate vital tissue responses. They sense a variety of inputs from their environment and transduce these inputs into different response outcomes to maintain homeostasis.

NLR in eXile: Emerging roles of NLRX1 in immunity and human disease

Robert J. Pickering et al.

Summary: NLRX1, a member of the NOD-like receptor family, stands out with unique features within its family, playing a key role in regulating inflammatory signaling and maintaining homeostasis between mitochondrial biology and immune response. Its involvement in a wide range of diseases, including cancer and autoimmune conditions, is raising interest in therapeutically targeting NLRX1.
