Transdimensional Markov Chain Monte Carlo joint inversion of direct current resistivity and transient electromagnetic data

Ronghua Peng et al.

Summary: The transdimensional Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method for joint inversion of direct current resistivity and transient electromagnetic data can rigorously assess the uncertainty associated with the derived model, reducing overall uncertainty and improving subsurface characterization. The method combines complementary information from each data set, favoring models with fewer parameters through Bayesian parsimony criterion. Application to synthetic examples and field data from Azraq, Jordan, demonstrates the effectiveness of the approach in reliable data interpretation and geological characterization.
