An efficient Oligo-FISH painting system for revealing chromosome rearrangements and polyploidization in Triticeae

Guangrong Li et al.

Summary: The chromosome-specific painting technique developed in this research, using oligo probes, enables efficient high-throughput karyotyping of barley and wheat chromosomes, as well as other Triticeae species. This technique facilitates the study of inter-species chromosome homologous relationships and non-homologous chromosomal rearrangements in Triticeae species and wheat-alien species derivatives.

Pm67, a new powdery mildew resistance gene transferred from Dasypyrum villosum chromosome 1V to common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Ruiqi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports the creation of four introgression lines using a wheat-Dasypyrum villosum 1V#5 (1D) disomic substitution line NAU1813, resulting in the discovery of a new powdery mildew resistance gene named Pm67. The lines carrying Pm67 exhibited significant resistance to powdery mildew, with tissue-differentiated reactions observed. Pm67 showed immunity in sheaths, stems, and spikes, but a low degree of susceptibility in leaves.
