Distinct cardiovascular and respiratory responses to short-term sustained hypoxia in juvenile Sprague Dawley and Wistar Hannover rats

Darlan S. Bazilio et al.

Summary: The study found that SD and WH rats exhibited different cardiovascular and respiratory responses to sustained hypoxia compared to WRP rats, with SD rats showing more pronounced physiological changes in response to the hypoxic protocol. After 24 hours of hypoxia, the pressor responses in SD and WH rats were blunted, while the magnitudes of changes in sympathetic and respiratory activities were reduced in SD rats.
