Understanding the Role of Litter Decomposition in Restoration of Fly Ash Ecosystem

Vimal Chandra Pandey et al.

Summary: This study investigated the leaf litter decomposition of different plant species in the fly ash ecosystem. The results showed that Leucaena leucocephala had a faster decomposition rate and nutrient release, making it a suitable choice for the restoration of fly ash deposited sites.

Variation in Endophytic Bacterial Communities Associated with the Rhizomes of Tropical Bamboos

Lal Singh et al.

Summary: The diversity of bacterial endophytes in rhizomes of bamboo growing in central India was investigated, revealing 31 isolates belonging to 17 different genera, with Proteobacteria being the dominant phylum. Greater bacterial diversity was found in Dendrocalamus species compared to Bambusa species. The isolated bacterial endophytes show promise as a sustainable bioresource for bioaugmentation of plant growth in tropical areas, including forests.

Metal remediation potential of naturally occurring plants growing on barren fly ash dumps

Deblina Maiti et al.

Summary: This study revealed that naturally growing plants have the potential to remediate fly ash dumps, improving nitrogen and phosphorus content. The vegetation included grasses, herbs, and tree saplings, with significant impacts on metal concentration in ash samples.
