Exploring the role of microRNAs in axolotl regeneration

Haitham G. Abo-Al-Ela et al.

Summary: The axolotl is extensively used in developmental biology research because of its unique ability to regenerate lost organs, particularly in the nervous system. While mammals rely on healing and scar formation for regeneration, other species like spiny mice, salamanders, and zebrafish are capable of regenerating damaged body components. Blastema formation, composed of progenitor cells or dedifferentiated cells, is crucial for regeneration in organisms, and the axolotl's introns, especially in development-associated genes, play a key role in this process by producing noncoding RNAs.

Nutritional immunity of fish intestines: important insights for sustainable aquaculture

Mahmoud A. O. Dawood

Summary: Intensive culture systems may weaken fish health due to infection and stress, but balanced diets can protect fish by maintaining intestinal health. The intestinal health is crucial for fish health, and the relationship between diet and intestinal health is associated with the general immune system.

Exposure to hydrocarbons and chlorpyrifos alters the expression of nuclear receptors and antioxidant, detoxifying, and immune response proteins in the liver of the rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss

Julieta S. De Anna et al.

Summary: The combined effects of oil pollution and pesticide application may impact fish health and reproductive signaling by acting on different nuclear receptors' regulatory pathways. Hydrocarbons from oil alter endocrine regulation in rainbow trout by inducing androgen, progesterone, and glucocorticoid receptors, while subsequent exposure to the insecticide Chlorpyrifos reverses the androgen receptor induction. Additionally, oil hydrocarbons induce liver metabolism by upregulating the expression of various receptors and enzymes, while the insecticide activates inflammatory and stress responses associated with apoptosis.

Amr Zaineldin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that supplementing red sea bream feeds with Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae can significantly enhance growth performance, digestion capacity, gut morphology, immune response, and stress resistance in the fish.
