The toxic effect of CuO of different dispersion degrees on the structure and ultrastructure of spring barley cells (Hordeum sativum distichum)

Aleksei G. Fedorenko et al.

Summary: Nanotechnology is rapidly developing, but there is still limited understanding of the safety issues and environmental impact of metal nanoparticles on soil and plants. Studies have shown that copper oxide nanoparticles have a greater toxic effect on spring barley compared to macrodispersed form. Changes in tissue and intracellular levels were observed in barley roots when exposed to copper oxides and nano-oxides.
