Understanding the performance of flow-electrodes for capacitive deionization through hydrodynamic voltammetry

Aranzazu Carmona-Orbezo et al.

Summary: Flow-electrode capacitive deionization is a promising desalination technology that can be scaled up by optimizing the electrochemical performance of carbon slurries. Experimental results show that the apparent viscosity of the slurries and the effect of shear thinning on the migration of activated carbon particles should be considered for improved deionization efficiency.
