Determination of Genomic Epidemiology of Historical Clostridium perfringens Outbreaks in New York State by Use o Two Web-Based Platforms: National Center for Biotechnology Information Pathogen Detection and FDA GalaxyTrakr

Jaclyn Carey et al.

Summary: Through whole-genome sequence-based subtyping of 76 samples, it was found that phylogenetic clustering of Clostridium perfringens largely aligns with epidemiologically defined outbreaks, with limited SNP diversity allowing for differentiation between outbreak and sporadic cases, and the ability to identify outlier and polyclonal samples to aid in epidemiological investigations.
