Elevation and leaf litter interact in determining the structure of ant communities on a tropical mountain

Jimmy Moses et al.

Summary: Tropical mountains provide a diverse environment for studying community structure, especially invertebrate species. The study on ground-dwelling ants at Mt. Wilhelm in Papua New Guinea revealed that elevation and leaf litter depth impact ant abundance, species richness, and composition. Species richness peaked at mid-elevation, while the effects of elevation and leaf litter depth varied depending on the factor being studied.
