Separation and configurational assignment of stereoisomeric phenalenones from the marine mangrove-derived fungus Penicillium herquei MA-370

Sui-Qun Yang et al.

Summary: Eight phenalenone derivatives, including four new compounds and four known congeners, were isolated from the marine mangrove-derived fungus Penicillium herquei MA-370. The new compounds, especially compounds 1 and 2, exhibited rare structural features and inhibitory activity against angiotensin-I-converting enzyme (ACE). Molecular docking analysis revealed the potential binding sites of compounds 1 and 2 with ACE.
