Dietary essential oil extract from sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) and bitter lemon (Citrus limon) peels improved Nile tilapia performance and health status

Radi A. Mohamed et al.

Summary: The study revealed that dietary essential oils extract from sweet orange and/or lemon peels significantly improved growth, blood health, immune response, oxidative status, and liver-related indicators in Nile tilapia. Furthermore, the dietary supplementation of the essential oils enhanced intestinal morphometry. Among all groups, the combination of 3 parts per thousand sweet orange oil and 1 part per thousand lemon oil showed the best results.
