Applied biaxial strain induced tunable sensing performance of green phosphorene monolayer towards small molecules: A DFT study

Zhuo Mao et al.

Summary: The research found that green phosphorene exhibits high selectivity towards nitrogen oxides, and the interactions between target adsorbates and green phosphorene are enhanced under compressive mechanical strain. The electronic structures of nitrogen oxides adsorbed systems can be effectively modulated under applied biaxial strain, while tensile strain significantly facilitates gas desorption.

Novel green phosphorene as a superior chemical gas sensing material

T. Kaewmaraya et al.

Summary: Green phosphorus and its monolayer variant, GreenP, are new members of 2D phosphorus polymorphs with high stability, tunable bandgap, excellent electronic transport, and anisotropic properties. Gas-sensing characteristics show stronger adsorption of NO, NO2, CO, and CO2 on GreenP, while NH3 and H2O are weakly physisorbed. Sulfur doping can enhance NO2 adsorption, leading to increased sensitivity in sensing devices.
