Effect of Concurrent Power Training and High-Intensity Interval Cycling on Muscle Morphology and Performance

Polyxeni Spiliopoulou et al.

Summary: The study found that concurrent power training and high-intensity interval cycling inhibit the improvement in jumping performance. This inhibition is not explained by changes in muscle fiber type composition or vastus lateralis muscle fiber CSA adaptations.

Summary: This study aimed to define the T-helper cell profile in the muscle biopsies of JDM patients, finding that the majority of biopsies had T cells, B cells, plasma cells, and macrophages. The disease is mainly related to Th1 and Th17 T-helper cell subtypes, while Th2 cells are not involved in the pathogenesis of JDM.

Eccentric exercise per se does not affect muscle damage biomarkers: early and late phase adaptations

Nikos V. Margaritelis et al.

Summary: The study found that acute high-intensity unaccustomed eccentric exercise initially caused greater muscle damage compared to concentric exercise, but this effect diminished with repeated sessions. At the end of the 10-week training period, there were no significant differences in muscle damage biomarkers between the two exercise protocols, and strength gains were similar.
