Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) composites with ZnSnO3 nanosheets as inorganic dispersed constituent have been prepared by a convenient solution mixing method, where ZnSnO3 is obtained by hydro thermal synthesis. The structure and morphology of ZnSnO3 and PBAT/ZnSnO3 composite are characterized. The obtained composite films, made by drop casting, display significantly-improved antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative (E. coli) and Gram-positive (S. aureus) food-borne pathogenic bacteria. The results suggest that the PBAT/ZnSnO3 composites may serve as promising candidate for antimicrobial food packaging materials.
