Durability and notch sensitivity analysis of environmental ageing induced glass fibre mat and kenaf fibre mat-reinforced composites

Summary: This study examines the effects of thermal ageing fatigue and mechanical ageing fatigue on the mechanical durability and notch sensitivity properties of glass fibre mat unsaturated polyester resin composites and kenaf fibre mat/unsaturated polyester composites. The results show that kenaf fibre mat/unsaturated polyester exhibited a more severe reduction in tensile modulus and un-notched strength compared to glass fibre mat/unsaturated polyester, but displayed lower notch sensitivity after thermal ageing.
