Summary: A highly selective spectrofluorimetric detection method for Fe3+ ions in an acidic medium was developed using a novel fluorescent sensor, which can detect Fe3+ ions at ultra-trace levels with a limit of detection of 1.7 x 10(-5) M. The sensor was effectively utilized for monitoring/detecting Fe3+ ions in real water and pharmaceutical samples.
