The role of the gut microbiome in cancer-related fatigue: pilot study on epigenetic mechanisms

Canhua Xiao et al.

Summary: Our study identified significantly different gut microbiota patterns in cancer patients with high vs. low fatigue, characterized by inflammation-associated taxa in high-fatigue group. Functional pathways and DNA methylation analyses indicate inflammation as the major driver in the gut-brain axis for cancer-related fatigue.

Minor Changes in the Composition and Function of the Gut Microbiota During a 12-Week Whole Grain Wheat or Refined Wheat Intervention Correlate with Liver Fat in Overweight and Obese Adults

Mara P. H. van Trijp et al.

Summary: In this study, a 12-week WGW intervention increased the relative abundance of certain bacterial taxa from the family Ruminococcaceae and increased predicted fermentation pathways compared with RW. These results suggest that replacing RW with WGW may have potential protective health effects on metabolic organs, such as the liver.
