Thermal adaptation revisited: How conserved are thermal traits of reptiles and amphibians?

Summary: Ectothermic animals, such as amphibians and reptiles, are particularly sensitive to rapidly warming global temperatures. Recent research suggests that thermal physiological traits are more evolutionarily flexible than previously thought, but slow rates of evolution are still observed. Understanding the mechanisms guiding the evolution of thermal physiology in response to climate change is crucial for predicting how these organisms will adapt to a warming world.
