Examining 3-month test-retest reliability and reliable change using the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery

Rune H. Karlsen et al.

Summary: The Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) is a commonly used computerized neuropsychological test battery in Europe. This study examined the test-retest reliability of CANTAB and developed reliable change indices and formulas for repeated measurements. The study found significant practice effects in certain aspects of cognitive function, but only a few tests showed adequate test-retest reliability. The findings suggest that large changes in performance are needed to interpret a change score as reliable.

Test-retest reliability of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test in people with schizophrenia

En-Chi Chiu et al.

Summary: The Wisconsin Card Sorting Test has acceptable test-retest reliability in people with schizophrenia, with most indices showing high consistency over repeated assessments. However, two indices (nonperseverative errors and failure to maintain set) exhibit lower levels of consistency, cautioning clinicians and researchers when interpreting re-assessment results in this population.

Anterior vs Posterior Hippocampal Subfields in an Extended Psychosis Phenotype of Multidimensional Schizotypy in a Nonclinical Sample

Lili Sahakyan et al.

Summary: Numerous studies have shown the involvement of the hippocampus in schizophrenia, with reductions in volume being a common abnormality. Recent findings suggest reductions in anterior hippocampal volume in early stages of schizophrenia. This study examined the associations of schizotypy dimensions with hippocampal subfield volumes, finding differential effects across various dimensions of the schizotypy risk phenotype, particularly related to negative and disorganized symptoms. These findings contribute to a dimensional neurobiological model of schizophrenia risk.

Summary: The study revealed sufficient reliability of M-WCST measures, facilitating its application in neuropsychological assessment. It also showed that M-WCST has substantially better psychometric properties than previous studies of WCST test-retest reliabilities from non-patient samples.
