Optimization and characterization of laser cladding of NiCr and NiCr-TiC composite coatings on AISI 420 stainless steel

Rasool Saeedi et al.

Summary: This research aims to enhance the rigidity and erosion resistance of AISI 420 stainless steel by laser cladding NiCr and NiCr-TiC powders to produce a metal matrix composite. The study found that the hardness of the composite clad containing reinforcement particles was significantly greater, leading to improved erosion resistance.

Improving surface resistance to wear and corrosion of nickel-aluminum bronze by laser-clad TaC/Co-based alloy composite coatings

Zhiyuan Li et al.

Summary: The TaC/Stellite X-40 Co-based composite coatings were successfully fabricated on NAB substrates through laser surface cladding, resulting in improved wear and corrosion resistances in marine environments. The incorporation of carbide and intermetallic reinforcements in the gamma-Co matrix led to enhanced wear and electrochemical corrosion resistances. With a higher TaC content in the coatings, the microhardness increased and the wear rate decreased significantly, indicating improved performance of the composite coatings.

Formation and wear property of broad-beam laser clad Fe-based coatings

Bo Sun et al.

Summary: Broad-beam laser cladding (BLC) is an efficient method for coating preparation with wide application. The FeBSiNb coatings prepared by BLC exhibited a composite phase structure with improved coating quality and wear resistance through optimizing process parameters. The in-situ generation of Nb-B particles dispersed in the coatings significantly enhanced the mechanical property and wear resistance.

Effects of geometric dimension and grain size on impact properties of 316L stainless steel

Jiansheng Li et al.

Summary: The impact properties of 316L stainless steel are influenced by geometric dimension and grain size. Larger samples exhibit higher impact toughness and larger dimples in the plain-strain region. This is due to the formation of larger dimples in large-sized grains with smaller grain boundaries, leading to higher impact energy consumption and toughness.
